I’m scared to speak of it lest I summon her unholy presence. Yet, I feel as if I must tell my tale. You need to be warned.

It all happened around mid-day, the weather was pleasant, and so I decided to go for a hike in the woods behind my house. I’ve been fond of taking walks since I was a little girl; I find that it helps clear the mind. As I started on my walk down a beaten path, I noticed began hearing a strange noise, but it was too muffled to be understood. Instantly I dismissed it and assumed it was just the wind or an animal in a nearby tree.
Now, I’ll have you now that I’m a fairly confident girl. I was lucky enough to inherit my mother’s petite Asian frame and her large brown eyes. Needless to say, there is one thing I am a little insecure about, and that’s my thin lips. I know it sounds silly, really. At least I’m not claiming to be perfect.
As I was walking, lost in my own train of thought, I began to hear that sound again, but this time it became clearer. I know this may sound crazy to you right now, but the words I began to hear sounded like a strange dialect, something I couldn’t make out because the words were still so hushed.
I looked behind my shoulder noticing I could no longer see my house beyond the trees. At some point I had also wandered off of the path. I wrapped my arms around my waist, trying to keep my wits about me as the noise began to reach a deafening volume. Everything beyond this point is still a bit blurry to me.

I remember falling, tripping on branch that had snapped off of a neighbouring tree, almost in tears because I was so frightened. The noise had stopped. I was suddenly met with the natural peace of the forest. Yet, it was entirely too quiet to be peaceful. I looked up, noticing a strange figure hiding behind one of the trees, but oh god it wa-
It was far too horrid to look at. It seemed to giggle at my apparent fear, something like a smile twisting on its misshapen head. I asked it a question, I don’t even remember what it was, but I remember its reply so vividly. It slowly made its way toward me, its body tilting on a curve as if its wire-like frame couldn’t support its gargantuan head. It stared down at me, only inches away from where I had fallen, and it chuckled again.
“Whhhoo doo you think you are dessssuuu?”
That voice. That horrible voice chilled me to the bone. It looked down at me with its saucer eyes in something that seemed to be contempt.

I began to grovel, my words garbled by the snot and saliva mixing in my throat; I couldn’t do it. I felt a surge of pain in my arm. She had crushed the bone with one hand and began twisting into an even more distorted form. I was covered in shadow, and from there on I can’t remember what happened to me.

My mother told me that she and a few of our other neighbours went looking for me to see if anything at happened. My mother and I were fairly close, she knows my routines fairly well, and thanks to her they were able to find my body lying down on the forest floor. I was taken to the hospital where they ran a few tests to make sure I was okay. My arm was placed in a cast, time needed to be given for it to heal, but everything else seemed to be in working order. Everyone just assumed I fainted due to stress.
Only I really know what happened. Months have passed, the cast was removed, and an imprint of a slender hand still lingers. No one else can seem to see it but me.

So now since everyone has been speaking up I have the courage to tell you my story.

A long time ago, when I lived in backwoods Florida, I had the dream of becoming aidoru in nippon. Everyday I'd go to the woodsand take artsy photos in short dresses and wigs, hoping, just hoping, that I would be famous on the internet. One day I stayed kind of late, hoping to get some cool night shots in, but that was when I heard it.

I can't tell you how many nights of sleep I've lost because of that noise. Imagine thousands of whispers at once. Thousands of whispering voices in high pitched tones screeching. Just screeching every night. And just repeated "kawaii aidoru there can onry be one"

And that was when I saw it. This long, slender thing with rickety legs, creaking slowly towards me. I was frozen, my camera still in my hands, in shock I accidentally took a picture, the flash bringing light her startling, hollow eyes, reflecting my petrified face. I didn't know what to do. The screeching was getting louder and louder. I flung my camera at it and ran. I ran as fast as I could back home, the screeching getting less and less.

I didn't dare venture into the woods for weeks, and even when I did it was only with friends. One day we found my camera on the forest floor, and what I found still haunts me, even more than the voices, even more than seeing it face to face.

This happened fairly early during my work day. I managed to kind of forget about her for the rest of the day. Because I was taking some time off because of my sister's upcoming wedding, I had volunteered to stay longer at work and lock up the place.
